Anya Coates
The Stay-At-Home Graduate
Hiyyyaaaaa! It's been a while!
Since my last post I've done a lot of growing up. To start with, I'm now officially a graduate (!) in Business and Public Relations meaning you're now talking to Anya Sorcha Coates DipLCM BA(Hons). This is where I do a sassy hair flick and shoot you a wink and walk away, but don't worry I'm not going anywhere! And I'm not parading those fancy letters around anywhere else but in that last sentence.
Anyway! Following finishing my degree I did a little more travelling (shocking) and started working. I always wanted to work in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and this year I actually got around to it! It was a really fun month, I met some cool people, saw some bloody brilliant shows (Prom Kween, I'm talking about you) and spent a lovely lovely month living in the best UK city with my fab cousin. Now, I'm back in Belfast and earning enough money to put petrol in my car and drive to work. Bye bye, Jimmy Choo's!
I never thought breaking out into the big bad world would mean calling up my mum and saying, 'stick the kettle on! I'm moving back in!' but here we are. 2nd September to present. Now, don't get me wrong I love living with my mum and Belfast is becoming a greater city by the day but there is something inside me that just can't wait to get out.
Those of you who know me well will know that I have big dreams but I can also get stuck in a rut and right now, I'm in a rut. Just like uni, applying for jobs and getting a move on with my career (life) is HARD. I see so many people excel and do so well in their respective fields and I can't help but wonder did I peak at 20-22? Did university give me a platform to do so well on and now without that backing I am just another girl with a 2:1 who has moved back home and is working in a bar/restaurant? God, I hope not.
With 2019 upon us I am DETERMINED to get my backside into gear. I want to keep myself updated on world news stories, share my favourite good news stories, send messages and keep in touch with people I love but just haven't, and just inject some happiness into the world. I am ready for a change.
Tomorrow, I have errands to run. Sunday, I have a life to get back into order.
Here's to 2019 and here's to success.
